Mav6 is seeking a software engineer to support a Department of Defense sponsored program to develop software that uses electromagnetic propagation models to assess the effectiveness and compatibility of counter improvised explosive device, electronic warfare, and communications systems. A successful candidate will have a strong background in software development; particularly using Java and other object oriented programming languages, and an in-depth understanding of the full software development process beginning from conceptual design to testing.  The software engineer will work with the software architect to refine and add features critical to the success of the program.  The position also will allow for exposure to a wide range of opportunities as a part of a dynamic, small business experiencing tremendous growth. 

Essential Position Functions:

·        Assist software development, particularly in the development of a graphical user interface (GUI), data management, and multithreaded processing

·        Assist in the integration of analytical algorithms in C, Java, and MATLAB with the application front end

·        Maintain the database developed in Oracle 11g

·        Make product deliveries and demonstrate new capabilities to the customer

·        Work within a multidisciplinary team to support rapid (every 1-2 months) deliveries

·        Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision

·        CONUS travel as required (less than 10%)

Minimum Qualifications:

·        Bachelor of Science degree in a computer science engineering discipline

·        1-3 years of relevant experience

·        Ability to obtain and maintain at least SECRET clearance

·        Ability to develop software using IDE (e.g. Visual Studio, Netbeans)

·        Good command of Java and at least one other object oriented language

·        Experience in dealing with database management and development with Oracle

·        Experience in software application development, unit testing, and maintenance

·        Experience with source control (e.g. Subversion, CVS)

·        Experience with collaboration environments (e.g. Trac, GForge)

Desired Qualifications:

·        Master of Science degree in computer science or computer engineering

·        5 years of relevant experience

·        Current SECRET clearance

·        Experience in rapid software development processes (e.g. Scrum, DSDM, Agile)

·        Experience with multi-platform application development

·        Experience scripting in MATLAB

·        Experience in IT infrastructure maintenance for software development and deployment

·        Familiarity with mobile application development for iOS and/or Android

·        Familiarity with counter RCIED electronic warfare (CREW) systems

Location:     Alexandria, VA (limited local travel to Herndon, VA possible)
