Mav6 is seeking a Senior Scientist to support the Technical Analysis Group (TAG). The TAG uses modeling and simulation tools to conduct analyses of technologies developed to combat Improvised Explosive Devices (IED). The Senior Scientist must have a strong physics based understanding of a broad range of technologies relevant to counter IED operations, including detection, imaging, communication, electronic warfare, ISR, and other systems. A solid understanding of computational and analytical methods is required along with strong software engineering skills to assist in both modeling and programming. Physics-based simulations will support military RD activities related to technology analysis and evaluation, Concept of Operations (CONOP) analysis, asymmetric threat modeling, and multi-source data visualization, processing, and fusion. The Senior Scientist is expected to have strong analytical, research, and leadership abilities and be able to execute project plans that provide solutions to problems assigned to the TAG. The Senior Scientist will provide expert advice, assistance, and guidance to the TAG and to clients. Essential Position Functions: · Develop first principles physics based models and algorithms to simulate physical phenomena · Conduct technical analysis, visualization, and optimization of complex systems that incorporate a broad range of technologies to assess their feasibility and performance in realistic operational environments · Design, program, and implement templates, patterns, tools, and processes to allow for rapid development and integration of models, using current and emerging development technologies · In a team environment, oversee and support the work of other scientists and engineers by managing project scope and ensuring their individual products integrate into a cohesive project architecture that is extensible and reusable · Generate operationally relevant conclusions and recommendations based on TAG analytical efforts that inform decision making, test planning, and technology implementation · Produce reports that communicate complex ideas for both technical and non-technical audiences · Mentor junior scientist and engineers · Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision · Travel up to 20% Minimum Qualifications: · SECRET security clearance with eligibility to obtain a TOP SECRET clearance · Master’s degree in Physics, Math, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline and at least 15 years of experience in a related field · Broad physics background in areas relevant to counter IED systems · Comprehensive knowledge of commercial and government MS tools and techniques · Expertise in numerical methods and approximation theory · Experience in mathematical and computational analyses of physical systems, including continuous and discrete event simulations · Strong programming skills in C/C++, JAVA, and other languages · Experience with Matlab, Mathematica, or other symbolic and numeric math packages · Experience with object-oriented software design, design patterns, and UML · 10+ years of experience in software development with a strong understanding of the software development life cycle process · Experience in parallel and concurrent programming · Knowledge of statistics as relevant to simulation analysis · Experience leading small, highly-specialized teams · Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Desired Qualifications · TS/SCI security clearance · PhD in a relevant science or engineering discipline · Experience in DoD modeling and simulation or game development · Practical experience with DoD counter IED technologies and systems · Experience with any CSD, CFD, CTD, CEM, CDM, or other simulation packages and CAD programs · Government experience or experience directly supporting DoD clients Location: Alexandria, VA Compensation Benefits: · Compensation based on experience and qualifications · Comprehensive medical and dental benefits with company stipend · Company paid vision insurance · 401(k) plan with Company match, annual profit share, and immediate vesting · Health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts · Paid time off and TEN paid federal holidays · Company paid life, disability, and ADD insurance
